Max is the founder and lead trainer at CrossFit TreeTown. Gifted with an eye for movement and technique, Max has been developing athletes of all ages and experience levels since 2007. “I enjoy teaching and coaching adults and children immensely. Seeing improvement in their overall health, happiness, and wellness is a true joy!” says Max.

Max’s enthusiasm for athletics and competition started at a young age. And being raised on a diary farm so did his commitment to hard work. “My passion for sport and fitness comes from my dad. He allowed me to trade milking cows for practicing basketball. I would spend hours shooting hoops out in the barn as a kid.”

In college, Max balanced his studies in horticulture and landscape design with being a student athlete on the track and field team. After college, he traded the track for mountain bikes and road bikes. He competed professionally all over the United States and as far as China and Tibet.

In 2007, Max obtained his USA Cycling Level 1 coaching license. But he couldn’t stop there; he wanted to share his knowledge about fitness and athletics. “Coaching kids, including my own three older children, in exercise, cycling, soccer, and basketball has allowed me to share my passion for athletics with the next generation.”

Max strives to embody the principles of a healthy, balanced life through athletics, nutrition, and, of course, competition.

“Increasing confidence and improving self esteem through physical fitness are the goals I have for kids and adults—whomever I have the privilege of coaching. I also believe in setting goals and competing for self-improvement. On any given weekend, you can find me competing in triathlons, road races, fitness competitions, obstacle courses, and mountain bike races!”
